Teaching Practicum II
Intermediate English I
Teacher: Ana Elisa Jimenez
This was the first class I taught in this group, and it was nice for me because my students were working together in the activities I carried out to the class.
• Something that I want to describe about the lesson that went well was that all the Ss cooperated with me because they worked in all the activities. I made an activity called “The onion ring”. In this activity, the students were speaking a lot, and then they told me that the activity was excellent. I felt good to see all of the students involved in the activity and speaking English a lot using Present Simple and Present Continuous.
• Something that didn’t go well was that the activities that I made in the class were too long. They took too much time and the students participated, but they felt the activities were too long. Another thing was that some students arrived late because it was raining a lot, and they didn’t understand what we were doing.
• I felt I got the objectives of this lesson because at the end of the class, all the students were participating in the activities. They were talking about what they do on Saturday and about why they are studying English.
• I used different kinds of materials to make the students understand the class very well. I used flashcards, pictures, the board, markers, colored paper etc.
• I couldn´t manage the time well because the activities took too much time. All the activities I did weren´t measured well and that´s why teacher recommended me to measure the time better for each activity.
• If I teach this lesson again, I will be really careful with the time for the activities because the activities I made took too much time. I will also carry out more speaking activities than written ones to the class because I noticed that the students enjoyed more the oral activities.

I think you did a good job in your class, and I can tell that the things that went a little wrong are not that big of a deal because timing is a problem for all of us, I guess. Good job Edward! :)
ResponderEliminarI know what you are facing dude; teaching is difficult, but at the end you learn more than what you have taught. That's the reward.

ResponderEliminarTeaching English is not an easy task my friend, but remember that we are not perfect. We are also learning how to use the correct tools in this English Teaching Wold. What i can say to you is GO AHEAD!!. Remember that we are on the way, and we will have good and bad days. The most important about this is that you as teacher must keep your attitude, don't feel bad when things are not okey. This is just a process. There's always a new day to change things and work better.
ResponderEliminarNice Job, teacher!!!!
When I think about the way you teach, I just remember my former teacher at high school, the nun that we saw in the lab during Tech class that day.
ResponderEliminarDo you remember the comment that she said about the way you teach?
So,good Teacher!
When teaching the first thing you have take intoaccount is the time Edward, this is one of the most important thing for a teacher. For the next time maybe you should bring short activities, but with the same quality from the others. Now that you have noticed that they learned more by speaking activities try to bring some of these to the class. Remember that students learn and improve their English by practicing. Congratulations.
