JOURNAL #2
TEACHING PRACTICUM II
INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH I
TEACHER KAREN DE ORELLANA
Today’s class was interesting because the majority of the students participated in the class.
• Something that I want to describe about the lesson that went well was that all I did in the class was understandable to the students and that they showed interest for the class. Another thing is that the students made me feel motivated because they told me that my classes are understandable and that they do not have any problem to get the idea what I explain about. These things encouraged me to continue doing my best when teaching.
• Something that didn’t go well was that some students arrived a little late to the class and I felt uncomfortable for it because they were irresponsible. Those students did not know how to do some exercises about the topic I was teaching because they arrived late. During the class, they were asking me about the topic because they were confused.
• I felt I got the objectives of this lesson because at the end of the class all the students understood the topic. After asking a lot of questions, they got the idea about the topic. I felt satisfied because they were asking a lot, and now I understand that a teacher must be really prepared to teach a class.
• I used different kinds of materials to make the students understand the class very well. I used charts, flashcards, pictures, the board, and markers. I pasted pieces of paper with verbs on the board and all the students were repeating them, and making questions with those verbs. I also pasted some flashcards on the board and the students pasted the names of the occupations below the flashcards.
• Today I could not manage the time well because teacher Karen told me that my time was over and I could not work in some other activities I took to the class.
• If I teach this lesson again, I will be really careful with the time because I have to learn how to manage the time better and work in all of the activities I prepare for the class. I will also provide more flashcards to the class because the students were asking me for other verbs and I did not have flashcards with those actions.

Hey Eduard I understand your complain about people who arrive late to class; I think all of us are facing similar problems, and as you said, after all you don’t know if you have explain it again, or if you have to continue.
ResponderEliminarIt is nice to see that you are very happy to be teaching in that group; I wish you the best next week.
I can see you`re still having problems with the students that arrive late to class. Maybe all of us faced this kind of problem in our classes. Don`t pay attention to this what I do now is that I tell them "you see that`s why you don`t understand, because you came late" maybe they understand better and take the responsibility to arrive early to the classroom. Another thing is that I believe you when you said that your students told you they like and enjoy your class because you`re very active and that`s nice. Keep working..!!!
ResponderEliminarEduardo,
ResponderEliminarCory is right. Here you are dealing with adults who know what they want in life. You do not have to explain again just because some students wre not in class during the explanation. I know this might cause some problems when they don't know what the exercise is about, but it is their respopnsibility to be in class on time.
About the latecomers, I don't have any complaints because today I could see that my tutor teacher had done something about it. Most of them were on time :)
ResponderEliminarHopefully, next class your students will be on time. Let's hope so... :)
Well, Edward don't get frustrated about irresponsible people. Remember that they are not children anymore. Do the part that corresponds you, and let students to do their part. If they don't do it, it is up to them.
ResponderEliminarDo the best from you as always and don't complicate your life because of simple things. Remember that the rest of the responsible students will appreciate the way you work if you do the best you can.
NICE JOB, EDWARD.
